VFW Companies Group formed Great Beach Attractions Corporation "GBAC" as a capital investment vehicle for bringing major themed attractions and theme park development to the Florida Panhandle.
Big idea starting point for "Great Beach": Imagine a place in pristine North Florida - the Panhandle - that has been a focal point of more than 500 years of early American history. De Soto encammped here. The Spanish missionaries established an outpost, with Spanish treasure ships sailing just offshore. Florida's first railroads established railheads here. Maybe they came for the treasure - the gold, or the cotton, or to become railroad barons ... but in this magical and pristine place ... they stayed for the beauty - the beach, the ocean, the sea life. Welcome to the Town of Great Beach, Florida, the longest continuously operating encampment on Florida's - although only recently discoved - a "base camp" for both adventure and relaxation in one of the few remaining undisturbed coastal regions in the U.S. A place discovered by de Soto and sought after by early Floridians. Not the Fountain of Youth but a fountainhead for the best in Florida outdoor recreation and themed attractions.
