There was a time in American music, before the multi-million dollar record deals, before the big-time agents, when songwriters and musicians knew they had something new. Something no one had heard before, and it was just burning in their soul. Sure they wanted to be famous, but it wasn't just that, or the money ... If they made it, it meant they were good.
The concept for Sunset Strip Live! ... its always about the music. Its not a blues club, or a jazz club. It's a music club, a living testament to the legacy of American blues, jazz, the birth of rock and roll, all, the great musicmaking and songwriting that are the shoulder's that today's musicians stand upon. Here you can feel the ghosts of the great musicians who have left the stage, but this is no museum. The truly great music lives on. At its core, the club is simple, raw, emotional. But it also reveals music's aspirations to inspire a passion for the lyrics, the rhythms, the pure sound that plants the music in your soul.
Creative work and deal structuring efforts included potential Universal Concerts - House of Blues joint venture to roll-out this small-venue HOB/Uni Concerts live music format. House of Blues subsequently acquired Universal Concerts, a national concert booking and amphitheater owner/operator, from Universal Music Group.
