A "family office" is a private company formed with the purpose of acquiring and managing investments for a high-net-worth family or individual, or ultra-high-net-worth family (or individual). A family office's investment capital is the family wealth of a specific family, which in many instances, has been accumulated over generations.
Family offices now operate that can be considered multi family offices, where investment management, financial services, and personal support is provided to more than one family or individual.
Because of the dedicated purpose of these enterprises, family offices in many instances also provide personal services to family members, particularly liaison with legal representatives, travel arrangements, scheduling, and household matters.
