Real estate asset management, as it applies to institutional investors involved with hotel, retail, and other commercial real estate industries, is an oversight process wherein the investment performance of a specific asset and/or portfolio is monitored, evaluated, and optimized over the lifecycle of the investment.
Asset management of real estate properties begins with the acquisition process and original deal structuring of the investment. If the asset is acquired through joint venture with a third-party, then the partnership or joint venture arrangement becomes an additional oversight matter for the asset manager.
